Who Should Install​

Use a Microsoft Entra account that can:

  • Purchase, access, or evaluate the Microsoft Marketplace SaaS plan made available to your organization.
  • Grant or request consent for the Lineage Advisor application.
  • Coordinate Microsoft Purview and Databricks access with tenant administrators.

For enterprise environments, use a test tenant first.

Installation Steps​

  1. Open the Microsoft Marketplace listing for Lineage Advisor for Microsoft Purview.
  2. Select the appropriate plan.
  3. Complete checkout or the evaluation purchase flow provided for your organization.
  4. Select Configure account now when Microsoft redirects you to Lineage Advisor.
  5. Sign in with Microsoft Entra ID.
  6. Confirm the organization and administrator contact.
  7. Connect Microsoft Purview.
  8. Connect Databricks Unity Catalog.
  9. Run validation and start the first Databricks lineage sync into Microsoft Purview.

What Microsoft Sends To Lineage Advisor​

During Marketplace setup, Microsoft sends a purchase token to the Lineage Advisor landing page. Lineage Advisor resolves that token through Microsoft's SaaS Fulfillment APIs and stores the subscription state needed to provision or map your tenant.

Typical Marketplace records include:

  • Marketplace subscription ID.
  • Offer and plan ID.
  • Purchaser tenant and beneficiary tenant.
  • Subscription status.
  • Quantity, if the plan uses quantity.
  • Test subscription indicator.

Activation Timing​

Lineage Advisor activates the Marketplace subscription only after the minimum setup succeeds. Minimum setup means:

  • The Marketplace token is resolved.
  • The customer has signed in.
  • The Lineage Advisor tenant is created or mapped.
  • Required setup checks are complete.

If setup cannot be completed, contact support before canceling the subscription.
